Harvesting Field Tobacco on Mike and Nellie Omasta's North Hatfield Farm
Working at Zagrodnik Tobacco in the early 1960s

CORRECTION from Wayne Pelis: Walter "Pikey" Pelis, the youngest son of the Connie Pelis family, who lived on Raymond Ave., but shown here on John Wilkes' tobacco farm home lot at 277 West St., North Hatfield – NOT in the Pelis fields on Jericho Rd. (Note barn in background with green metal roof.) Wayne also corrects the date to 2010, because it was on Aug. 4, 2010, that he received an email from John Wilkes stating that they were going to hurry and try to get their tobacco hung in the barns before the blue mold spread, and it was this picture that accompanied his email.

Thanks for the clarifications and additional detail, Wayne!
The back of this postcard reads, "Great quantities of tobacco are harvested in the Pioneer Valley, near Northampton, MA." Ektachome by Sid Lane, pub. by E & J Cigar Co., Inc., Northampton, Mass. A note says the picture was taken in West Hatfield. The card was submitted by Larry Boyer, and the card belonged to Larry's grandfather's brother -- Francis Goller.
